WITHOUT HAYDEN,AUSTRALIA OODEN

AUSTRALIA SHOCKED BY SRILANKA

Sri Lanka pull off consolation win
SRILANKA 221 ALLOUT 50 OVERS
AUS 208 ALLOUT 48.1 OVERS
Adam Gilchrist provided the fireworks but Sri Lanka's seamers had the extinguisher at the MCG, where Australia's blistering start of 0 for 107 in the 15th over transformed into 6 for 131 after 25 overs. Gilchrist made 83 from 50 balls but his team-mates struggled to reach double-figures and were in danger of entering the CB Series finals on the back of a loss.
They needed a further 91 to overcome Sri Lanka and were relying on Michael Hussey, who had 1, and Brad Hogg, who was on 7. Survival was the immediate aim after they lost 6 for 16 in ten overs.

Michael Clarke had not scored when he was bowled from his 11th delivery by Ishara Amerasinghe, and Ricky Ponting had faced the same number for 1 when Nuwan Kulasekera trapped him lbw. Andrew Symonds feathered a leg-side catch behind off Amerasinghe for 0 and Lasith Malinga had Brad Haddin lbw for 7 to complete the middle-order rout.

The Economic Survey 2007-08,

FACTS
The Economic Survey 2007-08, while upbeat on the over $1 trillion economy, has prescribed a flurry of possible reforms that would help to sustain growth at nine per cent, and reach double-digit levels in future from the estimated 8.7 per cent for the year 2008.The survey had a touch of the French President, Mr Nicholas Sarkozy, as it recommended increasing the workweek to 60 hours from the current 48, and a daily limit of 12 hours to meet seasonal demands through overtime. President Sarkozy also wants the French to work more and produce more. The survey, which was tabled in Parliament on Thursday by the Union finance minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, noted that the economy had achieved a higher trajectory of growth in the past five years, but “the challenge to maintain growth has become more complex because of the increasing globalisation of the world economy and growing influence of global developments, economic as well as non-economic.” It noted that infrastructure constraints are more binding and there is “heightened urgency” to augment and upgrade infrastructure, both physical and social, and in particular in the areas of power, ports and roads.Mr Chidambaram summed up the outlook for 2008-09 with the phrase “optimism with caution as the watchword.” He said: “There are a number of things going in favour of India. We need to capitalise on these opportunities while at the same time responding to the evolving situation in the global economy in a manner that our growth story is not affected.”The slew of reforms suggested by the survey include private sector entry into coal mining, phasing out controls on sugar, fertiliser and drugs, raising foreign equity in insurance to 49 per cent, allowing of foreign equity in all retail trade and allowing 100 per cent FDI in greenfield private agricultural rural banks. The survey stressed the need for “unprecedented amounts of capital with macroeconomic stability”, and said this would need public-private participation. It suggested that the government should provide incentives and motivation so that PPP could perform at its best.Talking of the two inter-related macro-economic challenges the country faces in maintaining high GDP growth on a sustained basis, the survey zeroes in on the two “I”s: inflow of capital and inflation. Capital inflows, it said, had spurted to an average four per cent of GDP, which was far in excess of current account financing requirements. This leads to large accumulation of reserves and a buildup of pressure on prices. Foreign exchange reserve accumulation was of the order of $ 15.1 billion in 2005-06 and $36.6 billion in 2006-07. So the excess of capital inflows has risen to 7.7 per cent of GDP in the first half of 2007-08, and foreign exchange reserves increased by $91.6 billion to $290.8 billion as on February 8, 2008.The survey notes that foreign capital chases growth as a profitable investment opportunity. However, if growth opportunities are stifled by infrastructure bottlenecks, credit squeeze, inflation etc., and do not materialise, this huge inflow will see accumulation of reserves and will put pressure on the Indian rupee to appreciate. The Reserve Bank spends Rs 8,200 crores to sterilise dollar inflows. The composition of capital inflows is also changing, with debt inflows, primarily external commercial borrowings (ECBs), shooting up to $16.2 billion in 2006-07.The Indian economy seems to be in a challenging cycle of huge inflows of capital and the problems of plenty and it is bending under the weight of plenty. How and why did the deceleration of the economy or moderation of industrial growth start? Almost all sectors, except for electricity, transport, hotels, communications and other services, were down. The deceleration in agriculture was due to the slackening in growth of the rabi crop.Manufacturing and construction decelerated by 2.5 percentage points in 2007-08. Cement and steel key inputs for construction also decelerated to 7.4 per cent and 6.5 per cent respectively in April-December, from 10.8 per cent and 11.2 per cent in the previous year. There was also a deceleration of growth of revenue-earning freight traffic by the Railways, passengers handled at airports and bank credit in April-November 2007-08. In short, the outlook for growth is slower, but it can be accelerated through reforms. This will be one of the biggest political challenges for the Manmohan Singh government. Gold at home makes us rich
New Delhi, Feb. 28: India is glittering. Indians have grown richer by $50 billion in the past two months even as the world witnessed a stock market meltdown across bourses, leaving many on the Forbes list poorer by billions of dollars. Over the past four years, Indians have seen their net worth soar by $320 billion — a return that would do Warren Buffet or George Soros proud. The secret to this new-found prosperity when investors worldwide are ruing their falling fortunes is India’s craving for gold.

EXAM FEVER

Examination times are very stressful for students as well as parents and teachers. How do they cope?

Now that the examinations are here many students must be under tremendous stress. But it is not just the students who are stressed as teachers and parents too face the same situation. Why do people get stressed? Adolescents are faced with the demands of their developmental tasks and that of a complex society. They need to acquire skills of adjustment to emerge into adulthood unaffected by these demands. If they lack these skills or if too many demands are made on them, they fail.
Students are anxious as they are worried about whether they would be able to live up to the expectations of their peers, parents and teachers. Optimal anxiety motivates and keeps them ahead but over-anxiety disables. Anxiety is contagious and passes to other students, teachers and parents. Adolescents, when stressed out, tend to perceive everything as an emergency. Some of the reasons for increase in stress level are identity crisis, the need to make career oriented decisions, teachers/parents attitude and peer pressure. The inability to communicate with parents also plays a major role.
Good memory depends upon a good brain. The brain needs a good supply of oxygen, glucose, calcium, phosphorus and iron. So make sure you sit in a well- ventilated place when studying. Your diet should include milk, cheese, walnuts, wheat germs, green leafy vegetables, ragi and dates. Do not forget that "breakfast is the brain food". Fatty meals, sugar and acids take away calcium from the system. Diets rich in fibre like fruits and vegetables help to reduce stress.
Good concentration is important to improve the memory. Learning and memorising by understanding and recalling what one has learnt is helpful. Organising and framing a logical relationship is important. Master not just the content of the subject, but also the process of answering.
Anxiety and fear hamper recall and result in a mental block during examination.
Watching television for a long time could lower academic performance. It `steals' away the reading time. Time management is about self-discipline. Time must be managed between filled and unfilled time. Filled time is the time spent sleeping, bathing, eating, dressing and attending school. A student has 10 hours of unfilled time. How best is the student going to utilise this? Make a timetable for the 10 hours.
Seven to eight hours of sleep is necessary for optimal physical rest and brain functioning. A positive thought is the seed of a positive result. Always feel positive. This will help to lessen stress.
If a student has symptoms of anxiety or depression, seek medical help immediately.
When stressed out:
1.Go for a walk or do some stretching exercises.
2.Talk to your friends for a while.
3.Do some deep breathing/breathing exercises.
4.Listen to music.
5.Practise Transcendental Meditation, yoga, relaxation exercises, aroma therapy.
Academic performance during exams is affected by:
1.Study Habits
2.Family environment
3.Watching television
4.Distraction/attentiveness
5.Ambition
6.Attitude towards study
7.Medical problems
8.Anxiety, depression
Recommended study habits:
1.Study regularly
2.Set a time table for all subjects
3.Sit in a place with no distraction
4.Use a dictionary
5.Read and think
6.If you do not understand, ask teachers/parents/friends.
7.Read subjects you like in between subjects you do not like.

rama sethu

What is Setu (Sethu) Samudram Project?
Setu (Sethu) Samudram shipping canal project (SSCP) is a project that has been approved by the Government of India and its work has been started near Kodand Ram Temple. In this project, Palk Gulf and Gulf Mennar will be linked by making a shipping canal through Rameshwaram Island. This will allow ships and boats to navigate in the passage between India and Sri Lanka without having to circle Sri Lanka (as is being done currently). This may save about 400 nautical miles voyage on the West Coast. This project will connect the National Sea Route. This canal will shorten the length of the sea route for ships. Rs. 21 crore per year for fuel expenditure of ships will be saved.
Danger to Ram Setu (Sethu)
Pictures taken by NASA [National Aeronautics & Space Administration], USA from space show the remains of what appears to be an ages old man-made bridge between Rameshwaram and Sri Lanka. According to Hindu scriptures and belief, Lord Ram and his vaanar sena had built a bridge from Rameshwaram to Sri Lanka about 17 lacs 25 thousands years ago. The discovery of Shri Ram Setu by NASA confirms that Hindu scriptures and belief are correct in this matter and that Ramayana is 'history' and not "mythology" as is often construed.
Setu (Sethu) Samudram [shipping canal project] is based on the notion that it is inevitable to break the Shri Ram Setu for easy navigation. This will amount to damaging a monument of both, historical and religious importanceto Hindus.

Why Ram Setu (Sethu) should not be damaged
Ram Setu (Sethu) prevented the tsunami from advancing from Rameshwaram to Kerala.
Spiritual Significance:
1.This is a divine bridge.
2.Lord Rama and his vaanar sena had built it 17 lacs 25 thousands years ago.
3.In Puranas, the importance of Setu is explained in great details, especially in Skanda Purana, Vishnu Purana, Agni Purana, and Brahma Purana.
Physical Significance:
1.Ram Setu (Sethu) a natural barrier to Tsunami: During the last tsunami, the Ramar Bridge (at a high elevation) from the rest of the shoal accumulations acted as a natural barrier preventing the direct devastation of the entire Bharatam coastline south and southwest of Nagapattanam. - Dr. Murthy, Chief editor of the reputed International Tsunami Journal "Science of Tsunami Hazards"
2.Threat of Tsunami: Many geologists, earth scientists, and oceanographers have commented critically, against the disastrous consequences of constructing SSCP. Amongst these is the impending devastation of Kerala, which will suck in after implementation of SSCP, after next Tsunami hits it. Read details: Sethusamudram project and impending Tsunami devastation
3.Many Naval officials are saying that even after the completion of SSCP, the depth of the canal shall be only 12 meters (about 36 feet ), and only small and medium sized vessels shall be able to pass. Large sized vessels and carriers shall not be able to pass.
Social Significance
1.The construction of SSCP is trampling upon the feelings and emotions of millions and millions of Hindus.
2.Besides, this bridge is world's oldest man-made structure. It is much much older than the pyramids of Egypt, and the Great Wall of China.
3.Ram Setu has sentimental, religious and historic value.
4.People have crossed the sea using the Rama-Setu, for many thousand years, until the 15th century.
Better alternative solutions are also available !
According to the specialists, a sea route may be prepared for navigation without damaging Sri Ram Setu, by removing the barren sand heaps near village Mandapam between Rameshwaram and Dhanushkoti railway. This will not only give a shorter route for navigation but also protect the oldest man-made heritage.
Questions to Government
1.Why was the route of Metro passing 'close' Qutub Minar in New Delhi was abandoned and later reworked fearing prospective damages to this 815 years man made monument?
2.Why the project of Taj corridor (which would have made lot of dollars to our money minded govt) was put off after the hue and cry of environmentalists as the construction near Taj 'may' cause bad effect on this 359 years old man made monument. Please give attention here that these monuments were not going to be destroyed but were 'feared' to get damaged.
3.Will any government in China would destroy or even alter The great wall of China(2695 years old) for the sake of any amount of money?
4.Will any one allow pulling down 4507 years old Pyramids of Egypt in lieu of any uncountable amount of money?
If the answer is NO, then why this 17,25,000 years old man made monument is being destroyed for the sake of some coins?
Other Noticeable Events
An attempt to offend Hindus
The drill, which is being used to demolish the bridge, is named 'Jai Hanuman'! Thus, as declared by the hermitage, this is a direct attempt to humiliate Hindus. Two such machines taken there have broken down. The government should take a lesson or two from this, says the hermitage.

Jalsa Audio on 29th

Jalsa audio release date falls in the leap year that comes once in four years

The audio of Jalsa, a Pawan Kalyan starrer, is planned to release on February 29th, with the historical Taramathi Bharadhari as its venue. Already three of the songs from the album have come into the public, receiving good response.
However, the event might not be a public affair as it would be limited to the near and dear of the film unit and fans. Produced by Allu Arvind and directed by Trivikram Srinvias, the film has several attractions. For the first time, you have three heroines in Pawan Kalyan's film.
They are Ileana, Parvati Melton and Kamalinee Mukherjee. Top music director Devi Sri Prasad scores music to Pawan Kalyan's film for the first time. Popular rap singer Baba Sehgal rendered his voice for a song in the album, after a gap of 13 years in Tollywood. The audio release date falls in the leap year that comes once in four years.
Pawan's Jalsa songs leaked!
These days the leakage of songs prior to the audio release is becoming a feature of South Indian films. First it was Rajni's Shivaji songs which were leaked on the internet and few months back few songs from Okka Magadu got disclosed much before the audio was released.
It's now the turn of Jalsa, Pawan Kalyan's latest film songs. Few songs from this film are leaked on the internet and are being circulated through mails.
First things first… Jalsa songs are stunning, simply superb. Devisri Prasad has done brilliant job. The title track "Saregama padanisa arey karo karo jara Jalsa…" is definitely going to create ripples. If all the songs in the album are up to this song's standards then Jalsa audio will surely boost up the film's fortunes.

India's K-15 missile tested successfully

The secret undersea weapon

India on Tuesday successfully test-fired the submarine-launched ballistic missile from under the sea off the Vizag coastline. Codenamed K-15, the test-fire extended India's critical third leg of the nuclear triad to sea.
It was perhaps the most significant milestone in India's nuclear weaponisation since the Pokhran test in May 1998. This will give India its deadliest nuclear strike weapon and its most assured capability to retaliate against a nuclear attack by an enemy.
The message is that the US is not only comfortable, but also supportive of India's rise as a bigger power. Moreover, it sees a considerable military element in its growing ties with India.
The K-15 missile will give India the capability to launch a stealthy nuclear attack from 50 metres under the sea to a land target 700 km away. India's clearly gatecrashed into the club of five big super powers.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation is to conduct the final test launch of the K-15, India's first submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) from off the coast of Visakhapatnam on Tuesday. The missile can carry a one-tonne nuclear weapon to a distance of 700 km.On Tuesday, the calm sea around Vizag will be breached by the roar of a missile rising from under the sea, geyser-like. Climbing to a height of five kilometers, the missile will ignite a solid booster which will arc it to a distance of over 700 km over the Bay of Bengal. With this full system test, DRDO officials say the missile will be handed over to the navy for integration on its nuclear submarine, the Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV). "The K-15's development is complete, we are ready to integrate it with the mother ship," DRDO Chief Controller Dr Prahlada told the media last week, in the first official and detailed confirmation of the enigmatic missile. The missile completes India's triad of land, air and sea launched nuclear weapons. It also gets India an entry into the elite club of-US, UK, France, Russia and China-capable of launching a ballistic missile from a submarine.
Underwater launch pontoonThe missile will be launched from a specially constructed submersible pontoon which sinks to a depth of 50 metres on the seabed-the intended launch depth from the submarine-and fires the missile from underwater. This period was chosen for the launch as the seas around Vizag are calm like a mirror. The slender two-stage K-15 has a length of around 11 metres-larger than the 8.5 metre long Prithvi short-range ballistic missile but smaller than the 15-metre-long Agni-1 ballistic missile. The missile has two stages fitted into its half-a-metre wide body. An underwater booster propels it clear of the submarine and takes the missile to a height of 5 km above the sea surface. On reaching this altitude, a second stage solid motor kicks in to propel the missile to a distance of over 700 km.Work on the missile started around a decade ago under a highly classified programme earlier called Sagarika (Oceanic). Development ran parallel to the Indian navy's 25 year programme to build its own nuclear-propelled submarine, the ATV. In the last few years, the missile remained behind a veil of obsessive secrecy with the government refusing to confirm or deny its existence. Variously dubbed 'the naval missile' and the 'navalised Prithvi', it was successfully tested to incremental ranges six times. The last successful test to its full range was in April last year. With work on the ATV nearly complete-a nuclear reactor was integrated into its hull in December-and the vessel due for sea trials next year, the next key milestone will be integrating the missile into the submarine. The ATV carries 12 K-15 missiles in four launch canisters. A fleet of three nuclear submarines are planned for induction by 2012.According to DRDO officials, the key challenge here was to master the difficult science of launching a missile from under the sea. This technology will come in handy when the DRDO eventually fields the submarine-launched variants of the 3500-km Agni-III missile in the next five years.

------How symonds is escaping????

Sreeshanth-Symonds
Harbhajan -Symonds
ishanth -Symonds

i think Symonds signed lifeterm contrct with ICC tht he will not b punshid even if he sledges anyone.......,Symonds admittedthat he uttered "F" word in sydnet test, but he was not fined, now my question is "y ishanth was fined 4 using thtsame word?"
Well Symonds cant be too bad considering your IPL are paying him 1.5 million dollars to play in their league....

i bet you wont mind if he was on your team and said these things,he is an Aussie and we dont take too kindly to racial abuse or being sworn at by little brats like Ishant Sharma...
Respect is a 2 way street darling, you have to give respect to gain it...
And obviously he has the respect of a lot of Indians if he didn't i doubt that he would have been offered so much money to play over there in India....
Also can you tell me if Sree,Harbi, and Sharma are completly blameless in these situations,i sincerly doubt you can.....
Dhoni says Sharma was provoked by Symonds
ndian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Tuesday accused Australia's Andrew Symonds of provoking young paceman Ishant Sharma in their tri-series clash at the SCG.
The two became embroiled in a set-to when Symonds took offence to the Indian's celebration after he had clean-bowled him, leading Sharma to point the all-rounder towards the pavilion.
The gesture led the 19-year-old bowler to be fined 15 per cent of Sunday's match fee by match referee Jeff Crowe.
But speaking after his side crushed Sri Lanka by seven wickets here on Tuesday to earn a place in the tri-series final against Australia, Dhoni echoed the Indian management's earlier claims that Symonds had instigated the incident.
"He only reacted to what Symonds said to him," Dhoni said of Sharma's reaction.
An Indian official confirmed that a complaint had been lodged with Crowe about provocative behaviour of several Australians -- believed to be Symonds, captain Ricky Ponting and Matthew Hayden.

Harbhajan an 'obnoxious weed' - Hayden

HAYDEN TARGETED "BAJJI"

Matthew Hayden has stirred already troubled waters by calling Harbhajan Singh an "obnoxious weed", a comment that will only serve to deepen the animosity between the two sides that has surfaced during India's tour.
Speaking on a Brisbane radio station, Hayden said: "It's been a bit of a long battle with Harbhajan, the first time I ever met him he was the same little obnoxious weed that he is now. His record speaks for itself in cricket.
"There is a certain line that you can kind of go to and then you know where you push it and he just pushes it all the time. That's why he has been charged more than anyone that's ever played in the history of cricket."
The pair clashed during Sunday's CB Series game at the SCG when the Indians complained that Hayden had called Harbhajan a "mad boy".
Hayden played down the incident, accusing the Indians of making an issue of it because "they are losing every game they are playing". He said: "I called him a bad boy."
"He took offence to that. I thought that was quite funny. I said mate, you should be flattered, it's a clothing range."

NOTHING FOR ANDHRA,NO STOPPING

BETTER TO PESSENGERS,NO DEVELOPMENT
This year’s Railway Budget introduced by Mr Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday was helpful to people and their government had successfully introduced the railway Budget for the fifth time without enhancing fares.
Girls could travel free up to completion of graduation, he said. Aged women, senior citizens, disabled people and rural milk producers will benefit from the rail Budget, he added. They had already sent proposals for the Nadikudi-Srikalahasti railway line in October 2007, but this was not included which was distressing, he rued. The Ongole-Donakonda railway line had also failed to get a place in the rail budget, but they were keen to take it up with public-private participation.
Meanwhile, the Communist Party of India (Marxists) criticised the rail Budget. MPs and the Union ministers from the state had failed to get funds for development of railway lines in the state, said Mr Jala Anjaiah, district secretary of the CPI (M).
The Srikalahasti-Nadikudi line which would serve people of backward Prakasam district had failed to get a place in the railway Budget, he said. Prakasam district people were waiting for the Ongole-Donakonda railway line for the last 50 years but this too was not included from this budget, he rued. The CPI and the Telugu Desam leaders also expressed dissatisfaction with the railway budget and Congress MLAs of the district expressed happiness.
The Railway Budget presented by minister for railways Lalu Prasad Yadav in the Lok Sabha drew flak, not only from leaders of Opposition parties but also from the Congress leaders representing both East and West Godavari districts.
Several proposals like laying of railway lines connecting Kakinada and Pitapuram and Kotipalli and Narasapuram, doubling of certain sections of the railway line, for instance between Narasapuram and Vijayawada, electrification of certain stretches, introduction of a train between Narasapuram and Hyderabad during the day in addition to the existing express train at night and several others have been pending for a long time.
Neither could the Union minister of state for defence M.M. Pallam Raju nor Congress MPs representing both the Godavari districts influence the railway minister to get allocations for taking up the proposed works.
Narasapuram MP Chegondi Harirama Jogaiah said, "The Railway Budget is disappointing with regard to allocations for the proposed works from our region. There is no mention of any allocation for the long pending Kotipalli-Narasapuram railway line and the doubling of the Narasapuram-Vijaywada line in the budget."
The response from Amalapuram MP G.V. Harsha Kumar was on similar lines. The Telugu Desam (TD) took advantage to find fault with union ministers and MPs representing Andhra Pradesh at the Centre as they only get a facelift of Secunderabad railway station and a Garib Rath between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam.
TD state general secretary Gorantla Butchaiah Choudhary said, "Despite tremendous increase in the volume of passenger traffic between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam, there were no efforts to ease traffic. Tamil Nadu managed to get maximum benefit. All jobs in the railway department are grabbed by youth from Bihar."
BJP state vice-president Somu Veerraju said, "Ministers and MPs have no say in allocations in the Railway Budget as the railway department is being run on bureaucratic lines. Railway authorities invest more money on non-viable stations like Chagallu, but failed to take up projects that benefit a large section of people. All key decisions are taken by the Railway Board and the role of public representatives is limited. This budget is not up to the mark as far as the state in general is concerned, and the Godavari districts in particular."

INDIA IN TO FINALS

Sri Lanka limp out of tri-series

SL 179 ALLOUT:INDIA 180/3 in 32.2 OVERS
Sri Lanka beat themselves in their must-win game as India eased into the finals with an emphatic seven-wicket win in Hobart. In what was a pathetic batting display, Sri Lanka skid from a comfortable 1 for 72 to a perilous 7 for 93, blowing their chances on a flat deck. A composed fifty from Chamara Kapugedera avoided a debacle but couldn't take away the one-sided nature of the contest.
Chasing 180 was never going to be too much of a challenge for India, especially when Sachin Tendulkar started to cut loose. Gautam Gambhir added a polished fifty to what's been a fantastic series, leaving Yuvraj Singh to add the final touches on a comprehensive win. Sri Lanka travel to Melbourne for their final league match but that will now be only of academic interest.
The conditions were overcast, and the bowling accurate but nothing could explain the batsmen pretending to be kamikaze artists. Praveen Kumar, a seamer relying on gentle swing, triggered the collapse before Ishant Sharma, a taller, pacier gunman, pierced the soft underbelly further. Kumar Sangakkara's poor shot selection opened up the flood gates and the rest seemed more intent to catch the next flight out of Hobart. On a flat pitch, they saw their chances of entering the final up in smoke.
The script could have easily changed, especially when Sanath Jayasuriya and Sangakkara were out in the middle. The duo had shrugged off the early dismissal of Dilruwan Perera, castled by a peach of a straightener from Ishant, by cashing in on a slightly wayward new-ball spell. Sangakkara, like he's done all series, laced cover-drives with ease while Jayasuriya, who's endured a struggled in Australia, crunched jabs through point to offer glimpses of his destructive best. The pitch appeared to have eased out; India, who picked five bowlers, seemed to have botched a great chance.
Everything changed when Kumar was introduced. Playing only his third ODI, he showed why he's so highly rated in the domestic circuit. Sangakkara paid the price for taking Kumar too lightly: he walked down the track and poked recklessly, only to see Mahendra Singh Dhoni pull off a fine catch diving to his left. Sangakkara telegraphed his intentions too early and couldn't make allowance for Kumar's subtle movement away from him.
Kumar was ecstatic after his first international wicket but he was to nab two more in quick time. Mahela Jayawardene was undone by a sharp catch by Rohit Sharma at point - reacting quickly to a fierce cut he pulled off a superb low catch - before Chamara Silva wafted at one that shaped away to watch Dhoni pull off another fine take. So smooth was the trajectory on that ball that it might have inscribed a perfect parabola, snicking the outside edge on its way through.
Jayasuriya, watching all the mayhem from the other end, thought it was best to break the shackles. Faced with a short ball from Irfan Pathan he attempted a high-risk pull, kicking the ground as the ball ballooned into Dhoni's gloves. Ishant returned to removed Tillakaratne Dilshan, with a peach that swung into his pads, before tempting Chaminda Vaas with an indiscreet pull. On a good batting pitch, with the bowlers doing nothing extraordinary, Sri Lanka were teetering on the brink.
Kapugedera, though, was like a sane voice in a mad melee. Along with Lasith Malinga, he endured 12.2 overs without a boundary before he began to gradually open out. He showed he had all the shots - a smooth cover-drive, a crackling straight-drive, and an innovative pick-up shot in front of square.
It was his highest ODI score but only delayed the inevitable. The sun was out by the time India's openers walked in and the match was headed in only one direction. Shrugging off his failures in the CB Series so far, Tendulkar set the Bellerive alight with a dominant half-century. Cutting loose against an uninspired bowling attack, he provided Australia with an ominous signal ahead of the final.
Reading Muttiah Muralitharan's doosras from the hand, he waltzed down the track to loft over the covers. Ishara Amarasinghe's dibbly-dobblies were never going to be a threat in these conditions and he was greeted with three successive fours in his first over: flicked delectably over square, cut savagely through point and spanked in the same direction.
Gambhir enhanced his ever-burgeoning reputation with an assured knock. He read Malinga's slower ones and didn't spare his quicker ones too, especially when they were wide and within his striking zone. He handled Murali with ease, picking him off for singles, and ensured he was out there when the winning runs were struck. Sri Lanka won't want to remember much from the CB Series but the sight of Gambhir cutting them to ribbons may be a tough one to erase.

State hopes to get the nod for three new trains
Will Union railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav go an extra mile in making more budgetary allocations to railway projects in the state? Officials of the South Central Railway (SCR) here, are hoping for a better budget this time around. Apart from a few new trains, the railway minister is unlikely to sanction new railway lines in the budget, according to SCR officials. Though TRS president and Union labour minister K Chandrasekhara Rao went on record recently saying the Prime Minister had promised him a new railway line between Jagtial and Secunderabad, via Siddipet, officials are skeptical about sanctioning such a mega project, when funds are awaited for several pending ones. For the 2005-06 budget, the SCR had proposed new trains between Secunderabad and Chennai, Gudur and Hyderabad, and Kakinada to Tirupati. For Hyderabad city, the railway authorities have not yet committed any amount for the second phase of MMTS, saying the proposal is still at 'discussion' stage. In other words, the railway budget is unlikely to make any allocations for the MMTS and Metro Rail project in the city. Several pending projects like the 58-km stretch between Amalapuram and Narasapuram which was estimated to cost Rs 699 crore and Mahaboobangar to Muneerabad that would cost Rs 497 crore are in urgent need for higher allocations, MPs from Andhra Pradesh say. Last railway budget allocated Rs 15 crore for the two project. While the track between Peddapalli to Karimnagar was completed, its extension upto Nizamabad is going on a snail pace. This project too had got only a meagre allocation of Rs 15 crore during last year's budget. The gauge conversion between Adilabad to Kinwat was completed, but it is yet to be extended to Mudhked.

20 TDP MLA'S SUSPENDED FROM ASSEMBLY

20 TDP members suspended from House

Twenty Telugu Desam Party members were on Monday suspended from Andhra Pradesh Assembly for obstructing the proceedings during Question Hour over the social welfare hostels across the state. Raising slogans against the Congress Government for the alleged neglect of welfare hostels, the opposition members obstructed the business and rushed to the well of the House. An angry gesture by TDP member, E Dayakar Rao prompted Speaker K R Sureh Reddy to name him. The Speaker directed Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah to suspend the TDP member for his unruly behaviour. The minister then moved a resolution, under Rule 340 of the assembly, seeking suspension of the TDP member till Friday. Protesting against the suspension, the TDP members present in the House stormed the Speaker's podium and raised slogans, leading to their suspension for one day. Some of the TDP members were physically lifted out of the House by assembly marshals. Later, the CPI (M) and BJP members staged a walk out alleging that the budgetary allocations for the welfare of weaker sections were inadequate.

Jason’s Shack ‘o’ Browsing Tips!

* tip the first: Mozilla Firefox! This is the most important step you can take towards a speedier and more productive online experience. The majority of the following tips will not help you without Firefox as your browser. Believe me, you will not regret it. Firefox includes built-in pop-up blocking and an integrated search bar (which defaults to Google), and has a vast number of extensions available for further customisation. And for those few sites that only work in IE, the number of those sites is decreasing every day — the very small amount of time that you need to spend using IE to access these sites will be more than paid back through the time-savings you will have through using Firefox. Go download it. Right now.
* tip the second: Tabbed browsing. No more clicking back and forth between pages as you try to read a page and follow the links in the page. Simply open the links in a new tab and continue on. And being able to save a set of tabs as a single bookmarks, or even set your homepage to be a whole set of bookmarks, is just dandy. Flip between tabs using the mouse, or even better by hitting ctrl-tab. To open a link in a new tab with your mouse, either press ctrl as you click the left mouse button or click on the center button or scroll wheel. Using your keyboard, press ctrl as you type Enter.
* tip the third: Keyboard shortcuts. Learn them and use them. Your mouse is only slowing you down. The ones that I use the most are ctrl-l and ctrl-k . ctrl-l moves the focus to the location bar (sometimes it’s a whole lot faster to just type the address of the site you are looking for rather than mouse through all your bookmarks). ctrl-k moves the focus to the search bar. Alt-left-arrow moves you back to your previous page and alt-right-arrow move you forward a page.
* tip the fourth: RSS and Bloglines.com. More and more websites are publishing their content through RSS feeds, which is an XML format that allows content to be syndicated and viewed through a variety of services. The medium that I use the most is Bloglines.com, which is a web-based feed reader — you create a free account with Bloglines and subscribe to the feeds that you want to read. Bloglines then periodically checks the feeds for your subscribed sites for updated content. Then, when you go to your Bloglines page, you are shown the sites which have new content and can view the new content directly in your Bloglines page. This works best for sites that are primarily text-based content, but there are feeds for photo galleries, comic strips, and many other forms of content. This is a huge time saver — rather than checking each individual site in your list of bookmarks for new content, you only have to go to one site for all updates. (Further info available through RSS feeds)
* tip the fifth: SuperDragAndGo. SuperDragAndGo is a Firefox extension that allows you to select a piece of text or a URL on a webpage and “throw it” (drag it slightly). Once “thrown”, if the text is a website address or a link, it will open a new tab to that site. For all other text, it will do a Google Search on the selected text. So if you find a phrase that you want to do a search on, you just select it and drag it slightly — voila! a search is initiated. (And throwing an image will open up a dialogue box to save the image to your computer.)
* tip the sixth: Find-as-you-Type. In Firefox, go to Tools > Options > Advanced. There, under the Accessibility tab you will see a checkbox next to “Begin finding as you begin typing”. Check this box. Then, when you are on a page, just begin typing the word you are looking for and it will begin an incremental search throughout the document. Type “j”, and it will go to the first word beginning with “j”. Type “a”, it will move to the first word beginning with “ja”. Delete “a” and it goes back to “j”. And so on. It makes searching within a single page a single-step process and far more intuitive — you just type what you want to find. What could be simpler that that?
* tip the seventh: Keywords. One last Firefox tip! In your Bookmarks, if you select Properties, one of the available properties of each link is a keyword. This keyword can be whatever you want it to be. So if you are regularly heading over to lifehacker.com for a dose of lifehackery, set the keyword for your Lifehacker bookmark to “1″. Then, you can simply enter ctrl-l to move to the location bar, type”1″ and then Enter, and you’re on your way!

While these are not all of my browsing secrets (I can’t give away all the magic), you will definitely find these will enable you to make your time online much more productive.

NOT BAD , SACHIN NEED SOME REST

INDIA SHOW SOME FIGHT,299/10 , 49.1 OVERS
A spirited chase led by Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa fell 18 short as Australia celebrated the end of Ricky Ponting's rocky batting patch with a tight victory. While the home side toasted a return to form ahead of Sunday's first final, India's plight to reach the CB Series deciders now comes down to the match against Sri Lanka on Tuesday after they reached 299, a haul relying on Gambhir's second century of the tournament.
A horrible series was forgotten by Ponting during his fine 124 while half-centuries to Matthew Hayden and Andrew Symonds also lifted their clouds of poor form in a brutal team display of 7 for 317. In the face of such a challenge - it was easily the highest total of the series - India were always behind and it was only the performances of Gambhir and Robin Uthappa that kept them in the game after the first four wickets went by the 11th over.

Gambhir and Mahendra Singh Dhoni met at the difficulty of 4 for 51 and made sure the team could provide some outstanding fight during the 98-run liaison, but the assignment eventually proved too difficult. Gambhir varied his pace throughout his display and his 113 from 119 balls was important, although his side was left wanting more. Uthappa tried his best with Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh providing excellent help as the overs ran out.

Ponting's 124 steers Australia to 317

AUS-317/7: AUSTRALIA ON TOP
India manged to absorb Australia's brutal early surge, but the hosts remained in control through half-centuries to Matthew Hayden and Ricky Ponting to reach 2 for 160 after 25 eventful overs. The Australia top order decided blasting out of a form slump was the best option and in a game of no consequence to them they raced like a bushfire until pegged back by the slower bowlers.
Ponting and Hayden have been two of the main under-achievers in the series and responsible for sleepy starts that were from the 1980s. The modern approach returned at the SCG and this opening was like a Twenty20 affair as they thrashed to 92 in the first ten overs. A change in India's tactics cut the heavy scoring and they were rewarded with the run-out of Matthew Hayden, who went for 54 off 62 balls after being sent back by Ponting. By the halfway mark Ponting was 69 from 67 and Michael Clarke was 13.
The form of Ponting has been the biggest worry for Australia, but he shook off the problem when he leaned into a defensive shot from his first ball and it went for three. Crisp drives to cover and midwicket also eased his concern and the biggest sign he was free came with a pulled six to welcome Irfan Pathan. There were more pulls, quick singles and pushes down the ground on the way to his first half-century of the series.
Early bullying also came from Hayden as he continued to walk down at the bowlers. He slogged a boundary over mid-on off Ishant Sharma and followed the next ball with a pulled six as the breathtaking opening started to peak. Sharma and Sreesanth, who came in after Munaf Patel suffered food poisoning, were unable to do anything to stop the initial pummeling. Sreesanth went for 37 off four overs and Ishant was only slightly better in giving up 37 from five.
