20 TDP members suspended from House
Twenty Telugu Desam Party members were on Monday suspended from Andhra Pradesh Assembly for obstructing the proceedings during Question Hour over the social welfare hostels across the state. Raising slogans against the Congress Government for the alleged neglect of welfare hostels, the opposition members obstructed the business and rushed to the well of the House. An angry gesture by TDP member, E Dayakar Rao prompted Speaker K R Sureh Reddy to name him. The Speaker directed Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah to suspend the TDP member for his unruly behaviour. The minister then moved a resolution, under Rule 340 of the assembly, seeking suspension of the TDP member till Friday. Protesting against the suspension, the TDP members present in the House stormed the Speaker's podium and raised slogans, leading to their suspension for one day. Some of the TDP members were physically lifted out of the House by assembly marshals. Later, the CPI (M) and BJP members staged a walk out alleging that the budgetary allocations for the welfare of weaker sections were inadequate.
